Our organization exists to feed children in Central Uganda. We own our grain mill and work with local farmers to maximize our impact. When children are fed they stay in school, enjoy learning, and grow to be leaders in their communities.

Our Mission

We feed thousands of students every day.

We are a small, dedicated organization in Central Uganda whose mission is  to help children by providing a nutritious, daily meal that keep them in the classroom. It started with an idea to help farmers in Central Uganda have a place to mill their grain and evolved into feeding more than 3,000 primary students per day.  We added Kakooge Primary with more than 700 kids in 2024.

Uganda has no program to feed students. So, over the years, non-profit organizations have stepped in. In the district where we are located in Central Uganda, there are more than 25,000 primary school students and most attend poor government schools. Despite being a government school, they get no food support.

To succeed in school, children have to eat. Many students walk more than an hour to school on an empty stomach and wait until mid-day for the one meal we provide.

Our grain mill, Farmer's Outlet Uganda, provides the posho (ground corn) and the parents provide the beans. This meal provides approximately 850 calories of protein, fat, and carbohydrates.

When we start providing posho, schools grow.  One of our original schools had 150 students and now they have grown to  500.  We have also helped provide kitchens and cooking utensils.

We partner with other organizations to bring other needed help.  African Children's Mission has provided latrines and clean water source to multiple schools as well as their own feeding program.

Donate and feed a child

Because we are in Uganda working with local farmers and producing food in our own grain mill, we are able to maximize donations and feed one student for an entire school year with a $25 donation. 100% of your contribution will go directly to our student feeding program, changing the lives of local kids.

National Christian Foundation provides Tax Receipt

Your donations to the National Christian Foundation and are 100% 501(c)(3) tax deductible. They will provide a tax receipt.   All donations go directly to the  Feed African Children Charitable Fund and are not accesible for personal use.

Our Schools

New in 2024 Kakooge Primary School

With the help of some generous donors we were able to add this school of more than 700 students in our village of Kakooge.

When we first visited this school - students were out picking green mangoes for lunch.  Government schools do not provide any food for students.  We started with porridge while making sure parents would contribute beans - We moved to full lunch of posho and beans in April 2024.  Grade 2 classroom

Kiralamba Primary School

We took over feeding of this school in 2017.  It is a large government school with 700 students.  Head master, teachers and parents work well together to make this a great school.  We are very proud to also be a partner.

Mitanzi Primary School.

This school is about 350 students.  It is a poorer school but with determined leadership.  In 2023 we also helped them with solar power thanks to a donation from a long-time friend of Mike's.

Ekitangaala  Primary School

This is first school that we worked with - starting first by sponsoring students and buying desks.  When the head teacher, Jovia Oyo told us the feeding program was failing - we decided to take over.  From there we have added many other schools and we share the responsibility for this school with African Children's Mission.

Kyambogo Primary School

This is one of the poorest government schools that we support.  Many children live with a grandparent or other extended family or a single parent.  The school had no kitchen when we first agreed to help so we started with porridge.  Even then the school grew quickly from 150 to 400 students. We have since built a kitchen and provide posho.  Families are slowly bringing beans and vegetables as their limited finances allow.

Canaan Primary School

This is a growing non-government school in our village of Kakooge.  We supplement their existing  feeding program This is a fast growing school with over 700 students.   Many of our factory workers children attend this school

Lwanguki Primary School

In 2024 we were able to take over this school which is much nearer to our village and factory - trading out a more distant school to a better situated feeding program.   This school, though closer for us has many needs, such as broken well pump, no water storage and no solar.  We will begin to tackle these in late 2024.

Ebineezer Primary School

These are pictures from a small village school that we support.  Parents pay for school fees and uniforms, national tests and supplies and provide beans.

This school has grown from about 50 to more than 350 students.

Projects

Feeding Primary School Students

Our main project is feeding students.  We provide the posho  and parents supply the beans. We are currently feeding more than 3000 students each school day

A meal of posho (ground corn) and beans provides about 850 calories.  Often the main meal of the day for these children

Helping Sponsored Schools With Special Projects.

When we start working with a school, we always find many other needs and we try to help or find other sponsors for the project.

KitchensSolar, Books, Sports Equipment, Clean Water sponsors, Vaccines, Latrines, Teacher Housing, Sponsor additional teachers

We added solar to two schools this year - This principal was so so happy?

Sponsoring Students

We started sponsoring students to pay their school and other fees starting in 2009.  It has been a way to get to know the community.

We typically have at least 10 kids sponsored.  Many have made it through high school and university.

Farmer's Outlet Uganda Community Grain Mill

Our original project in 2010 was to launch a grain mill so that farmers would have a place to mill and sell their crops.  The factory is the epicenter of our feeding program.  This is where we buy, store and mill the posho for the feeding program and for other schools.  We still mill for farmer's and many are happy to sell us their excess grain.  We could not succeed in thisendeavor without our 8 dedicated employees who are managed by William Ndugga

Farmer's Outlet Uganda

Our Factory - Farmer's Outlet Uganda.  We started with a 400 sq ft bldg, and have grown to 1500 sq ft.  we also have offices, a storefront, storage, employee accomodations and an outdoor kitchen.  Our Uganda Field Diretor is William Ndugga who has been with us since we launched.  In addition to William we have 7 committed and wonderful employees.
